Guys…it’s ALMOST HERE. Snowboard season kicks off next month! With how epic our season was in Tahoe last winter, it really feels like yesterday that I packed my stuff away for the summer. But even with just a short time off from the cold weather, I’m eager to return to the slopes.
I’m currently organizing my winter equipment and noting what needs replacing. While doing so, I’ve compiled a checklist for the 2023/2024 season, highlighting some of my top gear recommendations. From essential snowboarding equipment like boards, bindings, and boots, to safety gear, including helmets and goggles, I’ve got it all covered in this checklist. Don’t overlook the importance of quality snowboarding apparel and accessories – having the right gloves, jackets, and extra layers can significantly improve your comfort level on the slopes.
Take a look at the list below and gear up for winter!
THE ESSENTIALS
You literally can’t go snowboarding without these things
1. SNOWBOARD
My two favorite boards: The Jones Flagship & the Jones Mind Expander Twin.

2. BOOTS
I’m on my second pair of these K2 boots, and I absolutely love them.

3. BINDINGS
I’ve used these Burton Lexa bindings for years and find them to be comfortable and responsive.

THE WINTER KIT
For keeping you dry & looking fly
1. JACKET
I always wear a roomy, non-insulated jacket to layer as much or as little as I want. I love this one from Jones and have the 2023 version.

2. PANTS or BIBS
I’m 100% a bib girl. Just make sure you buy one with zippers on both sides because. it makes going to the bathroom 1000% easier. I have last year’s version of this one from Jones.

3. HELMET
I wore the Wildhorn Outfitters Highline helmet almost every day last winter. It’s lightweight, comfortable, has MIPs, fits helmet headphones, and won’t break the bank!

4. GOGGLES
In addition to Wildhorrn’s Helmet, I also LOVE their Pipeline goggles. I have worn much more expensive goggles in the past and prefer these for their comfort. You can’t beat the value of these.

5. MITTENS
These Burton mittens are THE mittens. They are gortex, warm, and fit well. Good mittens are worth the money, and these definitely hit the mark.

6. SNOOD
I prefer an over-the-helmet snood to a facemask because it feels like a hug for your head, and you don’t have to worry about fussing with a regular facemask that slips down, sticks to your face when wet, etc.

MY MUST-HAVE EXTRAS
1. HELMET HEADPHONES
Bluetooth headphones that fit in the ear pads of your helmet are the way to go. They are easy to operate with gloves on and won’t fall out of your ears like regular headphones. Wildhorn makes these great ones at a reasonable price.

2. RESORT BACKPACK
I like to ride with a backpack when I know I’m riding all day or if the weather is variable. I carry extra layers, a spare lens, snacks, sunscreen, and even a few beers. The right backpack makes all the difference at the resort. You’ll want to carry something not too big or too small that is comfortable to wear while riding and on a chairlift. I have the Verte 12 from Gregory and find it to be perfect for the resort. You can use my code tahoemeg15 for 15% off your purchase.

3. INSTA360 ACTION CAMERA
My Insta360 X3 action camera is my favorite accessory. I bring it to the mountain every day to capture content and memories. The Insta360 X3 is designed for capturing high-quality 360-degree imagery and video. Because the camera captures a 360-degree image, it’s easy to point, shoot, and reframe your video later! If you use this link, you’ll get a free selfie stick with your purchase.

That’s a wrap on my checklist for this snowboard season. Did I miss anything on your list? I can’t wait for winter to get here!
